EdLab Seminar: Making the Personal Web Transparent with Augustin Chaintreau

Today we heard from Augustin Chaintreau a computer science professor at Columbia who is working on making online data collection more transparent.

He and his team developed a program called XRay that reveals the email keywords that result in targeted ads. This software helps end users to know how they are being seen and understood by the companies they interact with online. The creators hope that it will promote transparency and best practices for using customer data.
