LACUNY Institute 2017

I’m presenting a poster today at the LACUNY Institute at LaGuardia Community College! The day started off with keynote speaker Barbara Rockenbach, who is currently serving as the interim Associate University Librarian for Collections and Services at Columbia University. She spoke to the theme of the conference, the future of academic librarianship, with examples from Columbia’s Studio@Butler and Yale’s Collaborative Learning Center. She also introduced a cool project they have developed at Columbia, the Morningside Heights Digital Library, which examines the history of my old hood.

Next, I attended a workshop about VR, AR, and Mixed Reality with Ken Fujiuchi, who is the Emerging Technologies Librarian at SUNY Buffalo. After that I went to a session about how CUNY is responding to fake news with Barbara Gray, Stacy Katz, Martha Lerski, Christine McKenna, and Sean O’Heir. After that session, I presented my poster:

LACUNY was a great conference! I met so many great people from academic libraries all over New York.
