Yesterday Hui Soo and I had the opportunity to speak at The Librarian and the Start-Up panel discussion at SkillShare 2014 hosted by SLA@Pratt. We had a small but dedicated group of interested library students in attendance and had the chance to talk with Jessica Yurkofsky, Creative Technologist at Harvard’s metaLAB, about our respective labraries and what it means for libraries to function like labs or startups.
at the "Librarian and the Startup" panel we talked about libs as labs: can employ iterative design, modularity, & tweaking existing structs.

The metaLAB is affiliated with Harvard’s Library Test Kitchen and both organizations are pushing institutional boundaries by creating, connecting, and combining information and people in new and interesting ways.
The Labrary project seems particularly relevant to our work as we think about the fourth floor redesign.
